Web Browser Security
« on: April 26, 2018, 11:34:57 PM »
I found this website from a hacking group on Facebook. https://panopticlick.eff.org and the only browsers that passed on at least one test was TOR. When I tested IE11, Edge, Chrome, and Firefox all failed. Now when I added their extension it blocked most of the issues they claimed but I could block some of the issues with uBlock or Adblock Plus. Not sure how legit this is but found it interesting.

Wow DuckDuckGo just made their own browser!! Only seems to be for mobile devices though. They do have a Chrome extension however.

https://duckduckgo.com/app

Tried it and it works decent as a Chrome extension.

Yea I tried a bunch of combinations. That company's add-ons works, Ad-bloc works, and just a few others are ok. Can't seem to find anything that covers it all. Opera is a great job actually.

It 100% does. They advertise it and I've used it recently. Love seeing stuff like that in a semi main stream browser.

Oh IE definately does but Opera is still in the group of more known browsers (at least in the tech world). We all know Chrome is the king right now with user count but as for VPN built-in I don't think any of them besides Opera has it.

Chrome will start marking all HTTP sites as not secure in July (2018)

https://venturebeat.com/2018/02/08/chrome-will-start-marking-all-http-sites-as-not-secure-in-july/

Its definitely not bad but not sure how practical this really is. Personally I don't feel its completely necessary because some sites are just for content and don't really need direct SSL.

Personally I agree. I'm really annoyed GoDaddy charges so much for it.

So I found an article about discontinuing the use of IE11 which lead me to a list of Chromium based browsers. Even ones that's literal goal is to block all tracking to Google lol.

Epic and Ungoogled caught my attention enough to post it here. Google really changed the game with their Chromium project.

So I found this list on Wiki about all the browsers and they're rendering backends.

Awesome website to test if your web browser is prompting you properly for permissions.
